Daydreaming

The blueberry monster, helping me make breakfast.
David and I find ourselves daydreaming about the house we are going to build more and more these days. We found out that we will get our deed in June and we want to be ready to break ground as soon as it is in our hands. In the meantime, we need to be making final decisions on house plans, our exact building location and such, but all of this planning makes things tricky. It reminds us that we are in limbo and we have to make sure that we don't let our daydreaming interfere with our happiness while living in our current, temporary arrangement.

Don't misunderstand. Things are going very well here at my parents' house. We are all getting along, we have plenty of privacy and are saving a lot of money. My mom loves having another gal in the house to help with housekeeping and we are getting a lot of quality time with them. On the other hand, our stuff is on top of their stuff, over half of what we own is stored away in boxes and I miss having decor that I would choose surround me (the "man cave" that we are living in is very dark and I am a bright, cheerful kind of girl). This is just another instance where you have to work hard to maintain proper balance so that your happiness isn't effected by one extreme or the other. It is fun to daydream and important to plan, but at the same time we need to see our current situation for what it is. We are very lucky to have such a nice, spacious place to stay so we really can start our next chapter debt free!! June will be here before we know (just TWO months away!) it and all of this limbo mumbo jumbo will be in the past.

Has daydreaming ever kept you from enjoying the here and now? It is so important to live for the present but it's also okay to be excited about the future. As long as you are happy, daydream away!

  1. I'm sure it's easy to get lost in thought about the new house. Such an exciting adventure. It will be a whole new chapter of your lives. Your right though, we should enjoy each Chapter for what it has to offer!
